Hi everyone, I just recieved my version of 8 of open book that works with a windows 7 64 bit computer. I installed and went to scan something and it said process failed. I had my scanner selected. I called Freedom Scientific and they told me that I needed the drivers that come with my scanner/printer/copier. It's all in one. I installed the drivers for windows 7 and continue to get process failed when I try to scan something. I uninstalled and reinstalled open book and I still get that message. My scanner isn't even making noise when I hit scan a page. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you gone into work flows to see if some box is checked or unchecked? What type of scanner do you have? Is jaws talking? I would try reconnecting the scanner again. Or, tomorrow get on the phone with freedom scientific to see if they can dial in and find the problem. I've used open book for a lot of years and I think all this work flow stuff and hidden menus have made things more complicated.
If I may be of assistants, sometimes your scanner shows as a twain scanner. Meaning it can be shared among other programs for scanning purposes. Check to see if open book see a twang scanner under the options to select your scanner.
Sometimes, under the scanner selection dialogue, there is a box that says twain. Try Wia and Twain. I believe twain is an older interface and not all scanners utilize this technology anymore. OpenBook 8? Why not 9?
Just wondering.
Nathan.
